A broken Hope

I have been thinking, standing on this line
been on a spot for so long, feels like am stuck in time
but still I know, I will be just fine
Once am done with this rhyme.

Not so easy
pain hurts sometimes, leaves me dizzy
but what can a poor soul do
when standing for my right only earns a boo!

I look to the end of the queue
So many strickened fellows
all waiting to get their portion due
no time for common hellos

We are wounded daily by the government lies
hurt so much we can't afford to look for rain in the skies
once we had a voice, and we raised it at least we tried
but they gave select few peanuts just so they can watch us cry

What we pass through daily isnt a mystery
the nation has us its labour force, but all we have is misery
come down your high grounds
oh government! Come make this nation stand

I heard a change charge
old soldier never dies, the face in the badge
Anti-corruption I heard
but all I can see is wolf in sheep stead

Call me skeptical
but loosing flesh only reveals your skeletal
my frame is all I have
and without food I will starve

Dark past my Pops said will never last
But tell that to a kid, who is stuck on a fast
wounded soul, His sorrows are never past
Time will heal that say, but until he heals give him water to quench his thirst.

What do I really know?
Am just an insignificant citizen
standing on a row
I believe the sun tomorrow will shine best
but for now I just want to be First
NEXT!!!

About Poem: This is an old piece that speaks of the travails a common citizen faces in my home country (NIGERIA). This poem speaks of a lack of direct impact on the citizen by the government, It speaks of a broken hope, but hope broken is not hope lost.
